How do I see what my Claude Code crew is doing and read a station’s recent output from the terminal?
Tares gives you a few commands and one console page to follow your Claude Code crew without watching terminals. Run tares factory crew status for the stations, the questions for you and a line per project. Run tares factory crew logs with a station name to read that station’s recent output. The Crew page of the console shows the same picture in the browser.
How it works
The crew is a set of Claude Code sessions running in the background on your machine: an orchestrator, a reviewer, builders, and a releaser if you asked for one. Tares keeps the plan, the tickets and their stages, the reviews and the questions the crew asked you, so every view below reads from that record.
- Crew status.
tares factory crew statusprints the stations, the questions waiting for you, and one line per project. It is the first command to run when you come back to the crew. - Projects.
tares factory projectslists every project handed to the crew, with its progress, its builders and its repos. - Station logs.
tares factory crew logsfollowed by a station name prints that station’s recent output. Use it when a station looks stuck or you want to see what a builder or the reviewer just did. - Desk.
tares factory crew deskprints the questions waiting for you, each in full. - Crew page. The Crew page of the Tares console shows the question waiting for you at the top, then the stations, each open project with its builders and their state, the orchestrator’s last lines, and the pull requests waiting for review. On a local Tares it is at
http://127.0.0.1:8787/crew.
The commands find your Tares in a fixed order. They use TARESD_URL and TARES_AUTH_TOKEN when set, then the workspace that tares login saved, then the local Tares at http://127.0.0.1:8787. tares factory doctor tells you which one it used.
Set it up
You need a running crew. If you have not brought one up yet, follow Get started first. It covers tares up, the MCP endpoint, GitHub access and tares factory crew up.
-
Get the overview. This shows the stations, the questions for you and a line per project.
tares factory crew status -
List the projects the crew holds, with progress, builders and repos.
tares factory projects -
Read a station’s recent output. Pass the station you want to look at, for example the orchestrator or the reviewer.
tares factory crew logs orchestrator -
Read the questions waiting for you, each in full.
tares factory crew desk -
Open the Crew page in your browser for the same view with the builders and the pull requests waiting for review. On a local Tares the address is
http://127.0.0.1:8787/crew. On Tares Cloud, open the Crew page of your workspace console. -
If something looks wrong and you cannot tell why, check everything the crew needs.
tares factory doctor
Start with the status command, then use the logs command on whichever station the status line points to.
What you get
- One command that tells you whether the crew needs you: the questions for you sit next to the stations and the project lines.
- A per-project view with progress, builders and repos, so you can see where each of several projects stands. The crew works on all of them at the same time, and while one waits for you the others carry on.
- Direct access to a station’s recent output from the terminal, without opening that station’s session.
- Full text of every waiting question from the desk command, so you can read it before you decide to answer.
- A browser view of the same state on the Crew page, including the orchestrator’s last lines and the pull requests waiting for review.
- A record that survives restarts. The sessions come and go, but the plan, tickets, reviews and your answers stay on Tares, so the views stay consistent after a station is brought back.
When something else fits
- To answer a question rather than read it, run
tares factory crew attach orchestrator. The orchestrator is the only session you talk to, and questions reach you there one at a time, each with a recommendation. - To check the setup rather than the work, use
tares factory doctor. - To follow the crew from a browser instead of a terminal, use the Crew page. The terminal commands suit quick checks and reading a single station’s output.
